More Altered Items

Well I spent most of today in bed sick, that was no fun and it also means NO STAMPING! But not to worry, I still have something to share with you. I did these Saturday along with the clipboard using the same paper and supplies. This whole set was a lot of fun. In case you didn't notice I wrote my next workshop date on the note pad................. I've had some questions about why my Granddaughter is making the dress. So, here's the answer.....She's 15 and girls at that age come up with some strange things to do. Her friend was having her Aunt make one and she thought it would be nice if they both had one to wear, therefor I got elected to make hers. We have a Renaissance Festival coming up and Kristen said she wants to wear it there and maybe Halloween, so it's not all wasted time and besides that and it gave me some one-on-one time with my Granddaughter................

The Dress and An Altered Clip Board

Greetings to you all. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. My Granddaughter and I worked on her dress yesterday afternoon. We got most of it done. She's not sure if she wants the trim or not so I'm waiting on that. She did decide to cut off the train which I'm very glad about, it will make it a lot easier to hem. This week I'll be working on hemming the sleeves, neckline and bottom. So this is how it looks so far. When she tried it on and I looked at her I couldn't get the Adam's Family tune out of my head. I kept hearing it all day. Come to think about it I'm still hearing it! Thanks Kristen........ This is one of the things I did Saturday. My first ever altered clip board. It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing some more. I used the Notations Designer Series Double Sided Paper and Little Reminders Accents & Elements from the Spring Mini catalog........

Still No Time To Stamp

I've just been too busy to do any stamping this week. I'm hoping I can get something done over the weekend........ My Granddaughter is coming in a little while and we're going to work on her dress. If we're lucky we can get it finished tonight........Not wanting to leave you with anything to look at 2 days in a row I decided to share another stitchery project I did several years ago. I made this one for my Mother in-law's birthday. If you remember I told you she was a cat person. My mother in-law was one of the nicest people you would ever want to know and I miss her dearly. This now hangs on my bedroom wall and I think of her every time I look at it... Meet my new nephew Nathan. Isn't he just the cutest? I can't wait to meet him in person. He lives in Rochester, NY and of course I'm way down here in Ohio......Old-Timers; You're an old- timer if you can remember when just about the only labor-saving device was Sunday.
Thanks for stopping in...Have a great weekend! ~~Rita~~

Too Busy to Stamp

I'm posting early today because it's going to get hectic around here later. I have 4 kids today so I'm going to be busy, busy, busy. Also, they are calling for storms later today so that means I will probably be unplugging my computer. I haven't had time to stamp so I don't have anything to share with you today. Hope you're all having a super day. Thanks for stopping by.

Baby Sampler

I have nothing new in stamping to share with you today. I do however have something I made for my new little nephew that I would like for you all to see. This is a Counted Cross Stitch Alphabet Sampler I did and I just finished framing it the other day. So what do you think? Will he like it? Click on picture to enlarge...... Starting today I'm going to share a little "Old-Timers" humor with you. I hope you get a little laugh out of some of it..........An old-timer is someone who can remember when going to the eternal rest didn't mean landing a job with the government........Thanks for stopping in!

I'm In Shock !

If you haven't tried to mail one of your creations lately you're in for a BIG shock. I took a card to the post office today and was informed that because it had four small brads on it (they showed through the envelope) that it would cost an extra 17 cents for a total of 58 cents. So, for those of you who don't already know if you put embellishments on your card it is going to cost an extra 17 cents to mail. The reason for this is because they can't send it through the machine that post marks it, they have to do it by hand. So needless to say, my Christmas Cards this year will be embellishment free........I haven't had time to do any stamping so today I thought I would share some ATC's I made a while back. These were for a Bella Swap and the only one I have is the Stamper Bella. I paper pieced the dress and colored the rest using a Blender Pen....Thanks for looking!

More Happy Mail

Today was a good mail day! No bills! Just a Jo Ann's ad and some Happy Mail!!!! I found not one but two packages in the box, just waiting there for me to take in the house and open. The first one is a Pay It Forward from Lorien Clark. Just look at all the goodies she stuffed in that envelope. Look at that yummy ribbon and count them, four new stamps! She even added a Stampin' Spot to stamp them with....Thanks Lorien! This next one came from Sandra Schoenborn. There's a book on eyelets, some cutouts, stickers, tiles, scrapbook papers and a beautiful embroidered sticker with flowers that says Spring. Won't that look fantastic on one of my pages. She also included a beautiful card that she made. Thanks Sandra! You ladies are awesome, you made my day. Thanks to both of you......Thanks for looking!

Second Workshop Card

Workshop Card

This is a card I made last week at our workshop. I used the Paisley BG stamp on Pretty in Pink card stock and attached that to Perfect Plum. After doing the Polished Stone technique on glossy white card stock I then cut the flower pedals out with the Small Oval Punch. The pedals were adhered to Shimmery Gold Card Stock and punched with the Large Oval Punch. I stamped the center of the flower with one of the stamps in the Circle of Friendship set and attached it with a dimensional. You can click on the picture to get a closer view.......Thanks for looking!

Blog Award

I'm a Rockin Girl Blogger! Anyway, that's what Adrian over at Adrian's Crazy Life said. I've known Adrian for several years now and although we've never met I think of her as a true friend. Go to the right and click on her amazing blog, she has a little bit of everything. Thanks Adrian for being my friend....Now I guess it's my turn to nominate some blogs that I feel worthy of this great award. I couldn't find too many on my list that hadn't already been chosen but I think these three are more than worthy. Make sure you visit their blogs and you'll see what I'm talking about...................

A Tent and A Pillow

Good evening all. I hope someone out there got some rain today, we of course did not. I spent a good part of the day in the garage getting ready for a garage sale this weekend. I can't believe how much work is involved just to get ready for one of these things. I have more to do tomorrow and then I can finish up on Friday. All I can say is that I'd better sell enough to make it worth all this time. I'm counting on selling a bunch of stamps so I can buy some new ones, I got a peek at the Winter Mini and I'm salivating!
Today's creation is a Tent Card I made a couple of weeks ago using Doodle That. Like yesterday, this is the first one of these I've attempted and it turned out nice, but I'm not sure if I like this style or not...... This project is a needlepoint pillow I made for my Mother In-Law several years ago. She was a big cat person so just about everything I made for her had to do with cats........Thanks for looking...~Rita~

Doodle That and Gobble, Gobble

This is a Gate Card I made last week using Doodle That stamp set and the Pallet' O Prints DP. This is the first one of these I've ever made........

Here it is open. It really wasn't that hard to make and I'm pleased with the way it turned out..........
This is another Needlepoint project I did several years ago. I put this on the table every year at Thanksgiving....Thanks for looking..Rita

The Dress

Well I know I promised to show you the dress when it was finished, but my granddaughter left yesterday for band camp and they have been in the process of moving this past week so we didn't get any sewing time in this weekend. Anyway, here's what it looks like so far. We still have to attach the sleeves and trim and then she gets to do the hemming........ Today's creation is an envelope file using envelopes for the pockets. Each pocket has a little file folder in it............This is the outside.........
This is what it looks like when open..................
I hope everyone had a super weekend. Thanks for looking...........

Hanging in My Craft Room

Another craft I like to do is Counted Cross Stitch. This is one I did several years ago for myself. I'm allergic to cats so this is as close as I can get. I love the saying on this one and thought it fit me to a T.................. Here's another one I made for myself. It took a lot longer to do but was well worth it. Both of these are hanging in my craft room.......
I hope you're enjoying looking at my needlework. Tomorrow I will be going to a workshop and after that we'll be working on that dress I told you about. My granddaughter and I worked on it the other day and got all but the sleeves, trim and hem done. If we finish enough of it tomorrow I'll take a picture to share with you on Monday.....Have a great weekend, I know I plan to.........Thanks for looking, Rita

More Plastic Canvas

These are some coasters I made several years ago. Plastic Canvas is so much fun and so portable. You can take your projects and work on them just about anywhere. I made these for family members one year at Christmas. There's a button music box in the back that plays 3 different Christmas songs when you push it.
Click on the pictures to make them bigger....Thanks for looking....Rita

Something Different

Today I thought I would share something a little different. I used to do a lot of Plastic Canvas Needlepoint and I ran across some things I made way back when....... This is a tissue holder that I had a lot of fun making. It has lace hot glued around the dress bottom and the sleeves. There's also a pearl necklace around her neck........ I hope you enjoy looking at these non card creations this week as much as I enjoyed making them. Thanks for looking.........Rita

What's wrong with Blogspot????? It won't let me type in a Title.....OK, here's another Baby card I made last week.
When our niece had her first child a couple of weeks ago that made my sister in-law and her husband first time grandparents. So I thought I would make them a card to celebrate the occasion. After stamping the main image I stamped the dots and outline with my new scallop punch outline stamps from Gina K. I then used my scallop square punch to punch it out. The inside of the card has the grandparent's poem. The colors I used are Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue and White with Really Rust and Bashful Blue ink. Thanks for looking..............Rita

I'VE BEEN TAGGED !!!!!!!!! I don't usually post on the weekend but we're taking a day trip tomorrow and I don't know if I'll have time when we return. So, here I am on this beautiful Sunday evening trying to think of 7 things about myself....My stamping friend Corie over at http://creationsbycorie.blogspot.com tagged me and now I have to list 7 things about myself and then tag 7 other bloggers to do the same. So, here goes.....
1. I'm 5' 1/2" tall. ( I tell people that I'm 4' 12 1/2")
2. I colored my hair for 43 yrs and it's still soft and baby fine. (I quit last year)
3. I smoked for 25 yrs. (quit 20 yrs ago)
4. I met my husband in Sept. and married him in Jan. (39 1/2 yrs ago)
5. My ears have been pierced 3 times each.
6. I have a heart shaped mole next to my navel.
7. My feet are not ticklish.
There, now you know just about everything about me. I can't think of anyone that hasn't already been tagged so I'm not going to tag anyone. If you want to post 7 things about yourself let me know and I'll stop by your blog and read it. Thanks everyone who stopped by my blog last week and especially those who left the nice comments, I really appreciate all of you. Have a wonderful evening. I'll have something to share next time.

Christmas in July

This is the card I made for the Christmas Card Challenge for July. I should now have about 70 cards ready for this year. This has been a really fun challenge. I never thought I would enjoy making Christmas Cards in 90 degree weather.....For this one I used A Tree for Every Season and Frosty stamp sets, Snowflake Embossing Folder and Glitter. The colors are Night of Navy, Brocade Blue and White. I applied two way glue to the falling snow and then sprinkled on the glitter to give it some sparkle. The snowflakes were stamped using White pigment ink....Now to get started on those August cards...Thanks for looking and have a great weekend......Rita

My Favorite......

This is the fourth card I did for the Card Club. I really did not like this card when I first saw it.....Who would've known that when I finished it it would end up being my favorite. It looks a whole lot better in real life. I like all the cards we did this month, but this one just stood out from the rest. I might have picked a different one had I used the Get Well on the Candy Holder instead of going out on my own and using the Happy Birthday. Who knows....Anyway, this will be my last post for Adrian's Card Club for awhile. I've had to cut back on some things and unfortunately she was one of them. Hopefully I will be able to join the group again this fall......All supplies, except the Primas, are from Stampin' Up! Colors used are Perfect Plum, Mellow Moss and Confetti White. Thanks for looking..............Rita

And The Winner Is............................

Well the weather got better and the storms moved south, so I went to Random.org and let them pick a number for the winner. The winning number is 10, so counting down the actual comments that means the winner is Kimberly! So Kimberly send me your address and I'll get your goodies in the mail....Thanks to everyone who left comments, I really appreciate them and enjoyed reading all of them. Have a great evening and enjoy the fire works if yours didn't get rained out like ours did.

Candy Holder

This is the third project from Adrian's July Card Club. I chose the Happy Birthday stamp from the Nice and Easy Notes set for the main image. Inside is a bag to put candy in, I think I'll put M&M's in this one. These are pretty quick and easy to make and make nice little gifts for any occasion. Adrian used the Get Well stamp on hers and it was my favorite of this month's projects. I like hers so much better than mine. The colors used are Regal Rose, Gable Green and Whisper White. Tomorrow I'll post my favorite out of the ones I did.To get instructions for this project go to http://Boomspeed.com/agentil/Tutorial3.html.......We're expecting storms here later so I may not be able to post the winner of the Blog Candy until tomorrow morning. Check back later to see if you're the winner!

Envelope Tag Card

This is the second card from Adrian's Card Club. It was made using a business size envelope. The directions can be found at Maria Bell's blog http://stampinupinspirations.blogspot.com. While you're there check out all her other beautiful creations. The colors used on this project are Rose Red, Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink. The stamp set Little Pieces goes really well with this Cuttlebug Embossing Folder don't you think? This was a lot of fun to make and so easy.
Time is running out for you to sign up for the blog candy listed a few posts down. Don't miss out! Happy 4th to you all, keep it safe.....Rita

June Card Club-Buckle Card

For June we used the Little Pieces stamp set. The first card was a masculine card using Ballet Blue, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. My card is completely different from Adrian's. She stamped a sentiment in the square at the top front of the card, but I needed a birthday card for my car loving Brother In-Law who turns 60 this week. The car is stamped using one of the stamps in the Vrooom set from TAC. I cut the numbers out with my Cuttlebug Alphabet and stamped Happy Birthday across the bottom. On the inside I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Best.
Don't forget to scroll down and enter a comment for the Blog Candy if you haven't already. I will be drawing a lucky winner Wednesday evening. Thanks for looking...........Rita
